A reading of the Akashic Records is often described as opening a book that contains everything your soul has ever lived. That is a beautiful image, and a slightly misleading one. Here is where the idea comes from, what actually happens in a reading, and what it can and cannot do for you.
Where the word comes from
Akasha is Sanskrit. It means sky, space, or ether, and in classical Indian philosophy it is one of the five great elements — the subtle one, the medium in which everything else occurs. It is very old, and it has nothing to do with record keeping.
The phrase “Akashic records” is much younger. It belongs to the Theosophical movement of the late nineteenth century, which borrowed the Sanskrit term and attached to it the idea of an imperishable impression of every event, thought and feeling. Rudolf Steiner wrote a series of essays from 1904 on reading what he called the Akasha Chronicle. In the United States a generation later, Edgar Cayce gave thousands of “life readings” that he said drew on the same source, and it is largely through him that the term reached the English-speaking world in the form we use today.
So the vocabulary is a nineteenth-century Western construction built on an ancient Indian word. I say this plainly because I would rather you knew it from me than found it out later and wondered what else I had smoothed over.
What the Records are not
They are not a scientific object. There is no evidence, and there could not currently be any, for a universal archive of souls. Anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something.
They are also not a prediction service. The Records do not tell you what will happen, and in my experience they will not tell you what to do, even when asked directly and repeatedly. What comes through is more like context: what is at play, what a situation is asking of you, which options are actually open, and what you are carrying that you had not named.
And they are not a substitute for judgement. A reading gives you material. The decisions remain entirely yours.
What I understand them to be
What I work with is a field of information that is specific to a person and stable enough to return to. I connect to your field, to what I experience as your own record, to your guides and to your higher self, and I relay what I receive. Some of it is verbal. A great deal of it arrives as image, texture, colour and sensation, and part of my work is translating that into language you can use.
Whether that field is literally a library, a property of consciousness, or something my own system does that I do not fully understand, I cannot tell you. Fifteen years of doing this has made me confident about the usefulness of the information and appropriately humble about its mechanism. Those two things can coexist.
What a reading actually looks like
You bring two or three questions. Real ones, about a relationship, a decision, your health, your purpose, something that feels stuck. The more specific the question, the richer what comes back.
Then the session finds its own rhythm. I connect to your field before anything is opened, and what arrives at that stage is often already substantial. Sometimes guides or ancestors step forward with something they have been waiting to say. We open the Records and move through your questions. If a blockage surfaces that can be addressed in the moment, I may do a small recalibration so we can carry on with a clearer field. At the end I ask whether there is a final message, and we close with gratitude.
Readings run an hour to an hour and a half, in person in Paris or online anywhere, in English, French or Spanish. They can be recorded, and I recommend it: people rarely remember more than a third of what they hear.
Should you have one?
A reading suits you if you are circling something and want more material to think with. It suits you badly if you want to be told what to do, or if you want proof. If you are looking for the deep energetic work rather than the information, an energy healing session is probably the better door.
